The ideas in my head are like traffic jams. Everyone rushing for first place, squeezing tightly into the lanes, bumper to bumper, shouting obscenities out the window at one another trying to get to the front of the line. Sometimes one idea absolutely refuses to move out of the way to make way for the next. Sometimes, it refuses to let me look at, or even think about any other fleeting visions I’ve had. I used to fight it and tell myself, “I’ll get to it later” or “I don’t have time for this right now.” Hoping it would recede into the back of my thoughts allowing me to think about anything else. I have finally learned I cannot tell my mind what to do. I cannot stop the ideas when they come, and I cannot try to organize them in any kind of coherent and pretty order. I have to let them overtake me and I have to let them flow in whatever order they want. Here is one such idea. I saw a photo. It made me laugh. That photo cascaded into a series of random visions of these two characters and the journey their relationship could take. Without further ado, I introduce to you Maoqiu and Louie. The ones responsible for my current restlessness and inability to focus on anything other than what their story could be. For now, I have decided on short comic strips. I’ll save the premise for the first strip ;) and let you watch their relationship unfold. Oh…and some readers might recognize these two. My cat Louie and my friend Melody.
